I want to start this letter with sincere and heartfelt gratitude for all the patients that have entered my life at Fox Valley Wellness Center/Midwest Hyperbarics and now Forum Health Fond du Lac. It really has been the highlight of my professional career.
When my late wife Julie and I decided to begin this journey, we had very little idea of what to expect. I was learning as much from my patients as I was from the training that was available over 25 years ago. My Internal Medicine Mentor from Marshfield Clinic always said to me “If you don’t know what’s wrong with your patient by taking a history, go back and take a better history!” The art of listening and allowing time to express the concerns is paramount, especially in this busy world. The story matters! Taking time to have you, the patient, tell your story is critically important and I hope I allowed you to perform that task.
I have been saying goodbye over the last few weeks to patients that I know I will not cross paths with again. It is the most difficult part of retirement! Hugs, tears and emotions are part of this process, but I will always have you in my heart.
I thank each and every one of my patients for making me the physician, the person, the leader that I am today. I could not have accomplished any of this without you.
The future of Forum Health Fond du Lac is very bright with the team in place. I have complete confidence that the next phase will be as successful as the past 25 years.
I wish you all health and happiness in the future. Be well. God bless.
In health,
Dr Steve
